WASHINGTON D.C. — In a move hailed by their own press releases as “a bold step towards a sustainable future,” tech titans Tesla and Google have officially partnered to address rising electricity costs, primarily by advocating for policies that will inevitably increase demand for their respective products and services.
The newly formed coalition, dubbed 'Grid Optimization for a Better Tomorrow' (GOBT), plans to lobby U.S. lawmakers and regulators on how best to utilize the electric grid. Sources close to the initiative confirm that GOBT's primary recommendations include incentivizing widespread electric vehicle adoption, expanding data center capacity for AI development, and integrating smart home devices that, coincidentally, run best on Google’s operating systems.
“We believe the path to lower energy bills is through more efficient consumption, which often means more connected devices and more data processing,” stated Dr. Evelyn Thorne, a GOBT spokesperson who previously worked as a senior lobbyist for a major cloud computing firm. “It’s a virtuous cycle: the more you use our tech, the more optimized your energy use becomes, and eventually, the grid will just… figure itself out.”
Critics, however, remain skeptical. “It’s like a fox offering to guard the henhouse, but only if the hens agree to wear tiny, trackable GPS devices,” commented consumer advocate Marcus Finch. “They’re not fixing the grid; they’re just ensuring they’re the only ones selling you the shovels for the gold rush.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk reportedly hailed the partnership as “inevitable,” adding that true energy independence would only be achieved once everyone's home was powered by a Tesla Powerwall, charged by a Tesla Solar Roof, and occupied by a self-driving Tesla vehicle, all managed by a Google AI.
