It reminds me, Jack, of those good old days, you know, when "Candid Camera" was on, always a good laugh, and we'd all gather around the black and white, waiting to see what little scamp Allen Funt had cooked up next. Or perhaps even those local talent shows down at the Grange Hall! Mrs. Peterson, oh, she played the most beautiful spoons, and little Billy Henderson, bless his heart, he could recite the entire Gettysburg Address backwards! No, not backwards, just very fast. Anyway, that’s what this new initiative feels like! A way for us all to really see what's going on, and to make sure everyone's behaving themselves, but with a bit of a flair, a bit of the old razzmatazz!
And young Dr. Evelyn, or maybe it was Mr. Evens, from the memo, bless his forward-thinking spirit, he really gets it. He understands that people aren't just looking for suspicious types anymore, they're looking for, well, for life! For the drama, the everyday happenings. I remember back in '68, when the Johnson family moved in across the street, and old Mr. Henderson, no, not the Billy I mentioned earlier, a different Henderson, he swore up and down they were secret agents, because their curtains were always drawn! Turns out they just liked to sleep late, but boy, did that neighborhood watch meeting get lively! Very lively, indeed. (whispers) The suspense was palpable, Jack. Truly.
So, here's to the new 'Production Units,' as they're calling them. I just know our communities will thrive under this new, very official, and dare I say, entertaining approach to keeping an eye on things. It’s like a big, friendly, neighborhood camera always rolling! Good work, everyone involved! Truly! Why, I remember when my grandson, little Timmy, no not Timmy, little... uh... what was his name... he wanted to be a director, and now, why, everyone can be a director! It's a marvelous time to be alive, Jack, just marvelous.
God bless America, and her shining beacon of freedom!
