BOSTON, MA — Greensea IQ has unveiled its Bayonet Autonomous Underwater Glider Vehicle (AUGV) Operator Training Simulator, a groundbreaking system designed to prepare humans for a job that will soon require no human input whatsoever. The simulator promises to hone skills that industry experts predict will be entirely automated within the next fiscal quarter.
“We understand the irony,” admitted Dr. Evelyn Reed, head of Human-Machine Interface Development at Greensea IQ, during the launch event. “But it’s crucial for our human operators to experience the thrill of piloting these magnificent machines, even if it’s just for a few months before the AI takes over completely. Think of it as a very advanced, very expensive video game with real-world implications, for now.”
The Bayonet simulator features high-fidelity graphics and realistic haptic feedback, allowing trainees to navigate virtual ocean currents and deploy simulated payloads. One recent graduate, Chad Peterson, expressed mixed feelings. “It’s amazing, I feel like a god down there,” he beamed. “But then I remember the job description said ‘future-proof,’ and now they’re talking about ‘AI-driven self-optimization’ by Q3. I guess I’ll just be watching the robots from the surface.”
Industry analysts suggest the simulator’s true purpose might be to ease human operators into the concept of their impending redundancy, rather than to genuinely train them for long-term employment. The company is reportedly already developing a “Human Oversight Simulator” for when the AUGVs start overseeing themselves.
