TROY, MI — Staffing giant Kelly announced today the appointment of Joel Leege as President of its Science, Engineering, Technology & Telecom (SETT) division, a move sources confirm is primarily aimed at simplifying the company’s internal organizational chart by lumping together “anything that requires a calculator or a hard hat.”
Leege, previously a Senior Vice President, will now oversee the sprawling SETT operations, which insiders suggest was created after an intern accidentally merged several departmental spreadsheets and HR decided it looked “more efficient.” The new division aims to streamline the placement of professionals in fields ranging from quantum physics to fixing your home internet, provided it doesn't involve painting or writing poetry.
“We’re thrilled to have Joel at the helm of SETT,” stated Kelly CEO Peter Quigley in a press release that carefully avoided defining what, precisely, ‘Telecom’ now entails. “His vision for integrating disparate technical disciplines into a single, cohesive, and acronym-friendly unit is exactly what Kelly needs as we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of… well, you know, stuff.”
One anonymous Kelly employee, who asked to be identified only as 'Brenda from Accounts Payable,' remarked, “Honestly, I just thought SETT was the sound the old coffee machine made before it broke. Now I guess it’s Joel’s problem.”
Leege’s first initiative is reportedly a company-wide memo clarifying that “SETT” does not, in fact, stand for “Seriously, Everything Technical, Together.”
