MEXICO CITY – Sonos, the purveyor of high-fidelity audio systems, announced the successful conclusion of its 'Sound Conductors' series this week, culminating in musician Meme del Real 'conducting' an orchestra for his latest single, 'Líquenes,' from a meticulously branded studio in Mexico City. The series reportedly aimed to 'democratize the symphonic experience,' a goal apparently achieved by allowing a pop artist to wave his arms vaguely in front of professional musicians while Sonos speakers were strategically visible.
“We believe that everyone, regardless of formal training or intrinsic musical aptitude, deserves the chance to stand before a full orchestra and pretend to be in charge,” stated Sonos Chief Marketing Officer, Brandon 'Buzzer' Williams, in a press release. “Our research shows that the average consumer is far more impressed by a celebrity endorsement than by, say, decades of classical training. It’s about the vibe, you know?”
Orchestra members, who wished to remain anonymous, reportedly found the experience 'unique.' One violinist, who identified herself only as 'Maria,' commented, “He mostly just pointed at us. We’ve been playing this piece for weeks. We just… played it. But the sound quality of the background music was impeccable, I suppose.”
The series is expected to inspire a new generation of 'conductors' whose primary qualification is a robust social media following and a willingness to integrate brand messaging seamlessly into their artistic endeavors. Future installments are rumored to include a TikTok influencer 'composing' a concerto by reacting to random sounds, and a tech CEO 'mastering' a choir with a series of hand gestures learned from a motivational speaker.
