LOS ANGELES – In a bold strategic pivot, the Hallmark Channel has unveiled its new 'Trauma-Core' division, designed to push its beloved stable of actors beyond the emotional confines of festive holiday cheer and into the chilling depths of existential dread. The move comes as several network mainstays, including Hunter King and Wes Brown, are set to star in the upcoming horror film, 'Rabisu: Curse of the Demon.'
“For too long, our talent has been pigeonholed into roles where the biggest challenge was deciding between two equally charming small-town bakeries,” stated Hallmark CEO, Fiona Sweetwater, in a press release. “We believe our audience is ready to see their favorite leading men and women grapple with ancient evils, psychological torment, and perhaps even a truly inconvenient parking situation.”
Industry analysts suggest the shift is an attempt to broaden Hallmark’s demographic, appealing to viewers who enjoy predictable romantic arcs but also occasionally crave the visceral terror of a demon possessing a beloved family pet. “It’s a natural progression,” commented Dr. Evelyn Thorne, a pop culture sociologist. “Once you’ve successfully navigated a misunderstanding about a misplaced Christmas ornament, what’s left but confronting an entity from the Sumerian underworld?”
Future projects under the 'Trauma-Core' banner are rumored to include a rom-com where the meet-cute involves a zombie apocalypse, and a heartwarming family drama about a haunted antique shop that only sells cursed artisanal jams. Hallmark confirmed that while the themes will be darker, every film will still feature at least one scene involving a cozy knit sweater and a cup of something warm.
