PHOENIX, AZ – Arizona State Senate President Warren 'Wally' Thompson announced today that he has fully complied with a subpoena for records related to the state's widely criticized 2020 election review, submitting what sources describe as a binder filled exclusively with Microsoft Word Art and various clip art images from the early 2000s.
Thompson, speaking from a podium adorned with a glitter-glue 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED' banner, declared his submission to be 'the most transparent and visually compelling compliance package this state has ever seen.' He reportedly included a detailed organizational chart rendered in Comic Sans, featuring a smiling sun graphic at its apex, and several pages illustrating 'data anomalies' with a series of increasingly frantic question marks.
'They asked for records, and by golly, they got records,' Thompson stated, gesturing towards a stack of what appeared to be printouts of animated GIFs. 'Each piece tells a story. A story of dedication, of inquiry, of a journey through the digital frontier. And frankly, it’s a lot more engaging than a bunch of boring spreadsheets.'
Critics, however, were less impressed. 'We asked for financial ledgers, communications, and data logs,' commented legal analyst Dr. Evelyn Reed. 'What we received was a PowerPoint presentation designed by a particularly enthusiastic middle schooler. It’s less a compliance and more a cry for a graphic design intervention.'
Thompson concluded by noting that he had personally selected each font and color scheme, ensuring the 'emotional resonance' of the documentation, and that he was particularly proud of the page depicting 'voter fraud' as a shadowy figure wearing a trench coat and tiptoeing past a ballot box.
