LAS VEGAS – In a move lauded by some as 'innovative' and by others as 'deeply concerning,' All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has announced that its new Women's World Tag Team Championship belts will be crafted from the actual 'Babes' of the recently dethroned 'Babes of Wrath' tag team. The decision comes after Megan Bayne and Lena Kross unseated the former champions at AEW Revolution, prompting a re-evaluation of championship aesthetics.
'We've always prided ourselves on pushing boundaries,' stated AEW spokesperson, 'Diamond' Dave Donovan, clutching a prototype belt featuring a surprisingly lifelike plastic arm. 'When the 'Babes of Wrath' lost, we saw an opportunity to make the belts truly reflect the spirit of competition. What better way to honor the vanquished than to incorporate them directly into the prize?'
Sources close to the production team, who wished to remain anonymous due to 'ethical discomfort,' confirmed that the 'Babes' in question are not, in fact, actual human women, but rather a proprietary blend of high-density foam and synthetic hair, designed to mimic the 'essence' of the former champions. 'It's about the symbolism, not the literal dismemberment,' clarified one technician, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. 'Though, we did consider it for a hot minute. The ratings potential was through the roof.'
New champions Bayne and Kross have reportedly expressed 'mixed feelings' about the new design, with Bayne quoted as saying, 'I just wanted a shiny belt, not a conversation starter for my therapist.' Meanwhile, the former 'Babes of Wrath' have yet to comment, reportedly still attempting to piece themselves back together backstage.
