PHILADELPHIA — Fans of FX’s *It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia* are reportedly bracing themselves for an emotional roller coaster as a “long-awaited” character is set to make a triumphant return. The announcement has sent shockwaves through the internet, primarily due to the collective realization that many viewers had completely forgotten the character, and possibly the show itself, was still a going concern.
“I mean, I love *Sunny*, but didn’t that end like, after the gang bought that bar and then immediately lost it in a convoluted scheme involving a pigeon and a jar of pickles?” mused Brenda Chen, 38, a self-described “early adopter” of the series. “It’s like finding an old friend’s contact in your phone and realizing you haven’t spoken since flip phones were cool.”
Dr. Evelyn Reed, a cultural anthropologist specializing in media consumption, noted the phenomenon. “This isn’t just nostalgia; it’s archaeological. Audiences are being asked to excavate memories from a time before streaming wars, before TikTok, possibly before the invention of color television. The emotional investment required to recall the character’s arc might be more taxing than the actual viewing.”
Network executives, however, remain optimistic. “We’re confident that once viewers remember who this person is, they’ll be thrilled,” stated FX spokesperson, Mark Johnson. “We’ve even prepared a 15-second recap video to jog their memories, primarily consisting of a single blurry still image and a faint echo of a catchphrase.”
The character’s return is expected to coincide with the show’s 27th season, or possibly its 16th—no one is entirely sure anymore.
