LOS ANGELES – In a groundbreaking move that signals a potential shift in Hollywood casting practices, producers of the forthcoming 'Baywatch' reboot have announced they’ve secured an actor capable of remaining vertical for extended periods. TikTok personality Noah Beck will join the cast as a rookie lifeguard, a role that reportedly requires the ability to walk, run, and occasionally not fall down on camera.
“We’ve really pushed the envelope here,” stated casting director Brenda Finch, speaking from a chaise lounge that appeared to be her permanent office. “For years, we’ve relied on talent whose primary skill was looking good while prone. But with Beck, we’re introducing a dynamic element: he can actually propel himself across sand without assistance. It’s revolutionary.”
The decision comes after years of 'Baywatch' productions struggling with actors who, despite their undeniable aesthetic appeal, often required extensive CGI or complex wire work to simulate basic bipedal movement. One source close to the production, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted a particularly challenging scene where an entire beach had to be tilted to prevent an actor from rolling into the ocean.
Beck, known for his online presence, is reportedly undergoing intensive training, which includes daily sessions of walking, jogging, and occasionally carrying a prop surfboard without tripping. The move is expected to save millions in special effects budgets previously allocated to 'standing enhancements.'
Critics are already calling it a game-changer, wondering if this new standard will eventually lead to actors being cast based on their ability to, say, deliver lines coherently.
