LOS ANGELES – Xprize founder Peter Diamandis, alongside tech titans like Google and Marc Benioff, has unveiled a new $10 million competition designed to inspire optimistic science fiction. The 'Future Vision Xprize' seeks to combat Hollywood's current penchant for dystopian narratives by funding films that showcase a brighter tomorrow, presumably one where the current economic structures remain perfectly intact.
“For too long, our cinematic future has been dominated by climate collapse, AI overlords, and resource wars,” stated Diamandis in a press release, which was reportedly beamed directly into the minds of potential applicants. “It’s time we envisioned a future where humanity thrives, innovation solves all problems, and, crucially, where venture capitalists are still considered the undisputed heroes of progress.”
Industry insiders lauded the initiative, noting that nothing inspires creative vision quite like a multi-million dollar cash injection from the very individuals who stand to benefit most from a public that believes in a tech-driven, perpetually growing future. “It’s a stroke of genius,” commented veteran studio executive Brenda Sterling. “Why just fund movies when you can fund an entire worldview that conveniently aligns with your investment portfolio?”
Submissions are expected to feature gleaming cities, benevolent algorithms, and perhaps a subtle nod to the inevitable necessity of space colonization for the ultra-wealthy. The prize is open to all filmmakers, provided their vision of paradise doesn't involve anything too radical, like universal healthcare or wealth redistribution.
