LOS ANGELES, CA — Following its groundbreaking acquisition of a recently deceased actor's death certificate, TMZ has officially launched 'TMZ Afterlife,' a bespoke service offering exclusive media coverage and management of celebrity post-mortem arrangements. The new division aims to provide fans with unprecedented insight into the private final journeys of their favorite stars, from autopsy reports to ash scattering locations.
"We understand that true fandom doesn't end when the curtain falls," stated Harvey Levin, founder of TMZ, in a press release. "With TMZ Afterlife, we're not just reporting the news; we're curating the complete narrative, ensuring every detail, no matter how intimate, is brought to our audience with the respect and urgency it deserves."
The service includes tiered packages, such as the 'Ocean View' option, which guarantees aerial drone footage of ashes being scattered at sea, and the 'Crypt Cam' package, offering 24/7 live-stream access to mausoleum interiors. Sources close to the company suggest a 'Digital Legacy' tier is also in development, which would allow TMZ to manage a celebrity's social media accounts for up to five years post-mortem, ensuring a continuous stream of sponsored content from beyond the grave.
"It's about closure for the fans," explained a TMZ Afterlife spokesperson, who asked to remain anonymous while negotiating exclusive rights to a prominent musician's last will and testament. "And, frankly, it's about monetizing every last drop of celebrity. It’s what the public demands."
Critics argue the move is a new low in media invasiveness, but TMZ maintains it's simply providing a public service, one death certificate at a time.
