LOS GATOS, CA – Netflix announced today the launch of a revolutionary new content strategy: a 'members-only' raunchy, unrated comedy accessible solely to subscribers who have demonstrated an advanced capacity for processing truly challenging humor. The move comes after extensive internal research suggested the general public is simply not ready for jokes involving, as one executive put it, 'more than three bodily fluids and a nuanced critique of societal norms via a talking badger.'
Access to the exclusive comedic content, which reportedly includes a series titled 'The Inappropriate Adventures of Bartholomew the Sex-Crazed Squirrel,' is granted only after a rigorous, proprietary 'Humor Aptitude Test' (HAT) administered by Netflix's newly formed Department of Offensive Content Oversight (DOCO). The HAT, a 45-minute online assessment, gauges a user's tolerance for everything from slapstick double entendres to existentialist vulgarity.
“We found that 87.3% of our general audience simply wasn't prepared for the sheer, unadulterated audacity of our most boundary-pushing material,” explained Dr. Eunice Piffle, Lead Anthropologist of Digital Decency at Netflix. “Their brains, quite frankly, would short-circuit. This new tier protects the delicate sensibilities of the masses while providing a safe space for the truly enlightened few who can appreciate a well-crafted, deeply offensive punchline.”
Industry analyst Skip 'The Guffaw' Jenkins, from the Institute for Advanced Jest Studies, lauded the initiative. “It’s a bold step. Finally, content creators aren't shackled by the lowest common denominator. Now, only those who truly *deserve* to be offended will be.”
