PHOENIX, AZ – A local man, recently detained by a SWAT team in connection with the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, has issued a forceful statement demanding an apology for what he describes as an “unjust and frankly rude” intrusion into his life. The individual, who wishes to remain anonymous while simultaneously addressing the media, stated that the entire ordeal has been “terribly inconvenient” and has damaged his reputation among people who now know he was detained in a kidnapping investigation.
“I’m just trying to live my life, and suddenly there are sirens and tactical gear, all because someone’s mother went missing,” said the man, speaking through his newly retained publicist, Brenda P. R. Stunt. “It’s a gross overreaction. Don’t they know how much paperwork this generates for me?” He added that the media’s focus on his detention, rather than on the actual missing person, was a clear sign of misplaced priorities.
Authorities have yet to comment on the man’s demands, stating only that their investigation into Ms. Guthrie’s whereabouts is ongoing. Meanwhile, Stunt confirmed that her client is exploring legal options for emotional distress caused by the “unwarranted suspicion” and the “audacity of the public to connect dots that are clearly not there.”
Sources close to the man suggest he is particularly upset that his favorite streaming service recommended true crime documentaries immediately after his release.
