SACRAMENTO, CA – California’s pioneering parole board has received widespread acclaim this week for its bold new 'Elderly Predator Reintegration' initiative, following the successful clearance for release of 78-year-old child molester Bartholomew 'The Boogeyman' Grimsley. Grimsley, once famously dubbed 'the monster parents fear most,' is set to re-enter society under a program designed to reduce prison overcrowding and, according to state officials, 'foster intergenerational understanding.'
“We believe every individual, regardless of their past proclivities or the sheer volume of their past proclivities, deserves a chance to contribute to society in their golden years,” stated Dr. Philomena Cautious, Director of the Department of Rehabilitative Optics and Wishful Thinking. “Mr. Grimsley’s advanced age means his energy levels for sustained predatory behavior are statistically reduced by an estimated 87.3%, making him an ideal candidate for community re-engagement.”
The decision, which has been met with what some local residents described as 'mild, predictable hysteria,' is a testament to the state’s commitment to progressive justice. Community opposition, including a petition signed by 14,000 concerned parents and 3,000 sentient garden gnomes, was dismissed as 'understandable but ultimately short-sighted emotionalism.'
“Our data indicates that a diverse portfolio of community risks is actually healthier than a monoculture of, say, only petty theft,” explained Brenda 'The Beacon' Hopewell, a Senior Analyst at the Bureau of Unforeseen Societal Benefits. “Mr. Grimsley’s release adds a unique, albeit spicy, flavor to the neighborhood’s overall risk assessment. It keeps everyone on their toes.” Grimsley is expected to reside near a local elementary school, pending final approval of his 'community outreach' plan.
