CUPERTINO, CA – Apple Inc. today unveiled the 'MacBook Neo,' a revolutionary new laptop designed to finally allow the common person to experience the unparalleled joy of paying for an Apple product. Company CEO Tim Cook described the device as a 'monumental step towards digital equity,' noting its price point makes it 'practically a public service.'
The Neo, which starts at a mere $1,299, features a slightly less retina display and a processor that is only 80% faster than last year's model, rather than the usual 100%. This strategic downgrade, according to Apple, allows them to pass on 'unprecedented savings' to consumers who previously felt excluded by the brand's commitment to premium pricing.
“For too long, the brilliant light of Apple innovation has been just out of reach for those who can only afford a single kidney,” stated Apple’s Head of Marketing, Brenda Chen, during the launch event. “With the MacBook Neo, we’re saying, ‘Go ahead, keep that second kidney. You’ve earned it.’” Industry analysts are already predicting a surge in sales among individuals who were previously considering a used Honda Civic.
Critics, however, pointed out that the 'affordable' Neo still costs more than many high-end laptops from competitors. Apple quickly dismissed these concerns, reiterating that true value cannot be measured in mere dollars, but in the sheer cultural capital of owning a device with a glowing fruit logo. The company also announced a new financing option that allows users to pay for the Neo over 72 months, or roughly the lifespan of the average human.
